REAL IRISH FOOD,TRADITIONAL AND MODERN ,NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT IS.

IRISH FOOD has for so long been the source of much derision. Some of it justified. However a lot of the recipes that are passed off as Irish recipes have done a lot of damage to the reputation of our wonderful food.

Very often this is not REAL IRISH FOOD in its truest sense, as in the recipes used by our forefathers and used by Irish families today.

We are an IRISH family of six with a large appetite for life and an equally large appetite for food ( not just Irish Food either ).

Living in the heart of Ireland we invite you to take a journey with us through the wonderful world of Irish cuisine, both modern and traditional.

It's because of our love for all things food, (and the feeling that Irish cuisine is not getting the credit it deserves) that you are reading this.

My wife, a brilliant cook ( what else could I say) is forever gathering food recipes. She has now built up quite a collection. It must be contagious because my beautiful daughter ( and only daughter, she's not spoiled I promise!) has now taken to collecting recipes.

On one of her many searches for recipes she came across a recipe for Crubeens (pig's trotters for those brave enough). However the author had stated that these were often eaten after a night out at the pub.

At this stage I must confess we do, as the saying goes, 'partake of a drink' but I had never in all my time eaten crubeens after a night out.

Indeed I had only ever eaten them once and that was as a child!

However my wife had often eaten them as a child. This got us to thinking about what Irish food really is.

Brilliant cooks like Darina Allen, Paul and Jeanne Rankin, Kevin Dundon, Richard Corrigan, Rachel Allen, Clodagh McKenna and many others are adding their own twists to the food and taking it to a whole new level. Their recipes just have to be tried to be believed. We will be holding back a section of the website just for these people alone.

They are simply that brilliant.

Irish Food is food to grace any occasion and any venue.
